Fitch CIRE

Fitch CIRE: How the Fitch Learning CIRE Exam Actually Works

Fitch Learning is the official delivery partner for the CIRE exam. CIRO approves the syllabus and sets the rules; Fitch handles enrolment, payment and the candidate portal, and Prometric delivers the sitting at a Canadian test centre or remotely. CIRO does not require a preparatory course. Here's what Fitch CIRE enrolment includes, what it costs, and how candidates prepare on their own.

Why Fitch Learning runs the CIRE

CIRO named Fitch Learning its service provider for the new proficiency model on November 8, 2024, and the exams are designed and delivered in partnership with Fitch. That covers the Canadian Investment Regulatory Exam (CIRE) and the rest of the CIRO Proficiency Model. CIRO approves the syllabus, sets the fees and eligibility rules, and makes the final call on eligibility and exemptions. Fitch collects payments, manages enrolments and attempts, and runs the candidate portal. Prometric delivers the sitting. Fitch Learning also owns the Canadian Securities Institute (CSI), which still sells the Canadian Securities Course.

What Fitch CIRE enrolment includes

Fitch CIRE enrolment buys exam attempts, not a course. An enrolment gives you up to 3 attempts within an enrolment period of up to 12 months. The first attempt is $475 CAD and each second or third attempt is $300 CAD, plus applicable taxes, paid by credit card. Fitch's help centre says preparatory courses are not required or provided, and neither Fitch nor CIRO lists prep providers. The official syllabus, practice exam and guide for studying are free on CIRO's Exam Hub.

Preparing for the Fitch CIRE without a prep course

The CIRE syllabus is public. Anyone can build practice on top of it. Registrant Prep covers all 99 official CIRO learning outcomes with 99 CIRE lessons and 3,000+ CIRE practice questions, plus an AI tutor that explains every wrong answer and a calibrated pass-probability score. Fitch provides the exam attempt; we provide the drilling, the AI feedback loop, and the readiness telemetry. Registrant Prep is independent and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Fitch Learning or CIRO.

FAQ

Is Fitch Learning the same as Fitch Ratings?

Same parent company, different business unit. Both are part of Fitch Group. Fitch Learning is the financial education business; Fitch Ratings is the credit rating agency. CIRO contracts with Fitch Learning for CIRE delivery.

How do I register for the CIRE through Fitch?

Create a candidate profile, enrol and pay on the CIRO Candidate Enrolment site that Fitch Learning runs, then book your date in the Candidate Portal. You can enrol yourself. When you enrol you attest that you work at a CIRO Dealer Member in a role that needs the exam, plan to apply to one within 12 months, or need the exam as a prerequisite for further CIRO exams. Education providers are not eligible.

What does the Fitch CIRE cost?

The first attempt is $475 CAD and each second or third attempt in the same enrolment is $300 CAD, plus applicable taxes. The fee is the same for all nine CIRO exams. There is no required Fitch course to buy: CIRO says preparatory courses are not required.

Can I retake the Fitch CIRE without re-enrolling?

Yes, within limits. One enrolment allows up to 3 attempts within a period of up to 12 months, at $300 for each retake. After three failed or absent results within six months, a six-month cooling-off period applies. After that, or once the 12 months end, a new $475 enrolment starts a new period.
