MFDA (legacy)

The Mutual Fund Dealers Association of Canada - predecessor to CIRO.

Definition

The MFDA was the SRO that regulated mutual fund dealers (excluding Quebec) until December 31, 2022. It amalgamated with IIROC on January 1, 2023, and the combined SRO took the CIRO name on June 1, 2023. Under CIRO, mutual fund dealers follow the Mutual Fund Dealer Rules, separate from the IDPC Rules that govern investment dealers.
